Purpose (2)
My Mum always told me growing up, it takes all kinds to make the world go around.

However, when it comes to New Year’s resolutions, I think there are only two kinds of people.

You are either for them or against them.

I am dead against them.

Yet, it wasn’t always this way.

Many years in a row I jumped on the New Year Resolution train and tried to chug my way to the promised land.

New Year's Resolution

I had this idea that New Year meant a new me.

Every single one of those years I hated the guilt I felt when I failed myself so early on in the year.

I had this perception that the resolutions were meant to make me a new person and that somehow, the person I already was had somehow needed replacing.

So for many years I chose to give the New Year resolutions a wide berth and let them pass me by.

The world didn’t stop turning and I welcomed the freedom of not disappointing myself.

Yet, there was still this grey cloud that hung over me each year.

Was I good enough? Just me, the way I am.

Somewhere inside me, I think I had believed I did need to be replaced with something better.

A slimmer version of me. A prettier version of me. A goal-oriented, driven, wife, mumma, professional who is just ticking all of the boxes without a hair out of place. (I have super frizzy hair…)

Have you ever felt that way?

That who you are just doesn’t quite meet the mark?

Have you let yourself believe you need to be married to be acceptable? Or a mother? Or have a higher paying job?

Somehow, have you been believing you need to keep working harder to be better or that you need to be perfect.

I am so sorry if you have.

Us women, we can be so hard on ourselves.

So hear me when I say this, you are good enough.

End of story.

New Year, New Woman?

Nah, New Year, same, beautiful woman - just the way we are.
