All those internet searches that tell you what cot to buy, sling to wear, sleeping sack you MUST need are wrong!
Her Haven is about to give you the inside secrets to eight things about motherhood no one can prepare you for.
Soon to be mums, I have interviewed women who are mothers and asked them what they wished they had known about motherhood prior to entering into this new season.
These mums have been in the mothering game for 20 months to 34 years!
So there is bound to be something that every reader will be able to take from this post.
Let's be honest. You hear about how tired you are going to be - but no one can tell you what that means. The constant exhaustion is both physical, mental and emotional.
The Amazing Overwhelming Love
The overwhelming love and responsibility you instantly felt from the moment you give birth to them. Ahhhh, let's all breathe out as our heart's melt at all the things our children do that make us feel warm and fuzzy. There is nothing quite like it!
Kids Are For Life
You wouldn't have it any other way but it will be one of the biggest commitments you will learn to live out during your lifetime.
All The Running Around

Get your taxi out! From the moment your child is born there are doctors appointments, check ups and mother's group.
As they grow older there is tennis, cricket, cheer and dance lessons.
When they are even older there will be work commitments and parties.
The Fear Of If You Are Doing It Right
This comment does not surprise me, because it is something I too think. It does surprise me because the mum who made this comment is my sister!
My sister is a fabulous mum and I look up to her. Not once have I ever questioned her parenting.
Which leads me to think - if you too wonder if you are doing it right or not - you are probably doing a great job too!
Guilt Over Having Time To Myself
Can I hear an amen? Do not be surprised if you feel this. Let the guilt go though. One of the best things you can do for your children is to fill your tank up with some 'me' time.
While this may not be your specific experience - motherhood is definitely not going to go according to your own plan. You will learn to be flexible and change your mindset...all...the....time
The Constant-ness Of It All (Constant-ness is completely a word from now on!)

Sometimes all day AND all night.
Motherhood is as wonderful as it is challenging. It is always a good thing to be connected to a community of other mums so you can realise you are all going through the same things but in different ways.
